I was in Sofia, Bulgaria at a youth exchange program organized by SCAS a few months back (didn’t got the chance to publish this draft).
The exchange ran at the same time with Computer Space where we met some interesting guys and girls from US, Germany, Italy, Latvia and Bulgaria. I can proudly say I met Harry Kloor and some amazing folks doing wonderful work with kids and students in Potsdam, Cagliari and Riga.
The 8 hour night train from Bucharest to Sofia smells and looks like a drunk russian :) (I find Russia really interesting). The staff at the hotel was really nice letting us check in 5 hours earlier, and after a morning sleep we went to the award ceremony for the Computer Spaces’ contest that started the previous month.
The next days we engaged in workshops and presentations (with robots and new tech) ending each evening with a great dinner in the town, and one night we knocked ourselves out in the club :D
We stayed two more days in Bulgaria on our own (oh, forgot to mention that I was there with the ADVICE people), and one day we spent in wonderful Plovdiv, a nice little town with incredible people (they helped us get to the coach station even though we couldn’t understand each other in any language).
I left Sofia with a bitter taste in my mouth, from the nuts I ate all day, and as you’d expect, with a mad (panda) urge to visit it one more time, alone perhaps, like I’d love to visit Istanbul again (I really do!).
