The xx in Bucharest

I’m sorry for the quality of the photos.

Well, the stage wasn’t exactly in Bucharest, yet Știrbey Domain in Buftea is the perfect place for a music festival like Summer Well.

I managed to get there pretty late, as Glasvegas were already getting the crowd warmed up. The trip to the magic place was a bumpy ride, and though I appreciate the effort put into the festival, RATB strikes again: cramming 120-130 people in buses that had a capacity of 103.

At 10 p.m. the muscly James Allan ended with the Ice Cream Van and left us with about 30 minutes of Vampire Weekend and sorts running in the background as The xx were setting up.

I don’t usually like clubs with loud music and people bouncing around like jumping beans, so this concert was perfect because it had nothing of that.
The public felt like a field of reeds swinging along the minimalistic tracks, and, despite sounding awkward, when you closed your eyes there was just you with The xx in all nakedness. Their live music literally shook my bones.

The long pauses between some tracks pulled whistles and shouts of praise from the crowd and their Bună seara ‎‎ and Mulțumesc ran the public ecstatic.

On top of all this the light effects were a great bonus for this beautifully crafted experience. Thank you Ramona for the invite!
